Joan Gaspar

I began to learn the craft of designing under the guidance of Lluís Porqueras. My earliest efforts, mainly lamps, date from that period. Looking back, now, I am still proud of them and they serve to remind me that I had the best teacher possible.
Today, I am a seasoned professional, but one who often thinks that his designs still retain the essence of those early years, given that I am still more interested in explaining how I have done things and showing how I have solved problems, rather than in the end result per se. That is not to say that the end result does not interest me – obviously it is very important – but, since the solution, about which everyone has their own opininion, is apparent, I feel that no one, other than its creator, can explain its hidden secrets knowledgeably and with passion.

  • His work has been selected on a variety of occasions for the awards at FAD.
  • In 1995 received first prize in the Furniture Competition of the Comunidad Castilla la mancha, and in 2000 wins the first prize at the
  • Valencia International Furniture Fair.
In 2001 was awarded with the Delta de Plata for the Atlas range of lamps, and in 2005 for the Neón de Luz, both designed for Marset Iluminación.
